Last year, we played North Bay twice. During the regular season, North Bay jumped out to a 21-0 lead. They took advantage of our fullback pressuring him with high kicks and several defenders streaking down to pin us deep in our half. We fought back, from a 7-28 deficit to finish strong and tie the game at 28-28. They were a well organized team with forwards putting a lot of defensive pressure and a couple of speedy backs that ran for large chunks of ground. Missed tackles along with some miscues hurt us. The team really showed a lot of determination in this game. In the State Final, North Bay came out with a very aggressive defense and knocked fly half Jacque La Fonta out of the game in the first half. The Exiles again seemed to pull it together; and a unified attack using forwards and backs confused the opponents. A couple try saving tackles by full back Oscar Chatain helped maintain the lead and after being brought together by the injury to our star player; the Exiles had a fantastic second half winning the State Championship going away - 57-10.
North Bay is going to be very hungry to avenge last season. Everyone will need to step it up. Please make sure to confirm your availability.
