Exiles Punch Ticket to Maryland State Championship

The Maryland Exiles exacted a bit of revenge for their defeat a week ago playing against a very tough West Carroll team. While we were missing a number of talented first team players, it was a credit that we had several players step up and demonstrate their class and character winning this one.

Joseph Zarrelli sent over Keagan O'Connell for the first Exiles try, five minutes into the first half. Fifteen minutes later, the Exiles were rewarded as sustained pressure allowed Michael Boyd to set up fellow Sophomore Pierre Liggens for another unconverted try and a 10-0 lead. West Carroll increased their level of pressure to match ours and were rewarded by two converted tries. But the Exiles had enough in the tank to up the level of the game again. We were rewarded by another try from Pierre Liggens, and Haavard Hansen's conversion kick was true.

Final: Maryland Exiles 17 -- West Carroll Marauders 14

And while we celebrate the tries of this game, it was won with defense. There were multiple times that West Carroll were on our goal line, and they were not able to punch it it. Our defense improved by leaps and bounds, and we were very proud of all the players on the field that made it happen. It will need to take another step forward in taking on a very talented North Bay team.
