First Half
We traded punches with a very tough Roosters team. We had some crisp ball movements in the backs, two of which were converted to tries by Van Mahoney sprinting down the sideline for two tries. Cam Webster hit two conversions. Meanwhile the Roosters would not go away. They continued to hammer away at us in the rucks, and their aggression was rewarded with two unconverted tries.
Halftime: MDX 14 Roosters 10
Second Half
Full credit to a tough Roosters side. They came out in the second half determined to match us in physical contact and aggression. They were rewarded with a converted try, and we were now behind chasing the game. But it was right here that the true class of our team was put on display.
Five phases of physical go forward rugby led to an unconverted try by Daniel Boger. Then a turnover led to another try by Van Mahoney that Cam Webster slotted through the uprights. Another turnover, followed by three phases of play ended in another Van Mahoney try converted by TK Sullivan. Eric Eishewene was able to shake loose from the Rooster defense, and sprinted the 60 yards for an unconverted try. And while were in command of this game, the Roosters would not go away. They pressed their attack forward after a turnover, and they punched in the final try of the day.
