The turnout was disappointing. This was an opportunity to showcase our program against one of the top teams in the country. This was a chance to put together scrums and lineouts and work on backline plays and defense. The players that did post got a chance to see what a top ten looks like, and what we need to do to compete at that level.
The good news is that we had twenty players there that were ready to compete and learn. Our first phase platforms were solid, despite intense competition from our opponents. We were also able to move the ball through the hands, and at times we looked very dangerous with the ball in hand.
At the end of the day, we had nearly enough to fill out a JV side against Fort Hunt's JVs We were excited to see a lot of the brand new guys that came out this week get their first taste of what a rugby game looks like. Alex Sandoval and Diego Gonzalez made huge impacts on this game.
So it was a great day and a great opportunity to improve and get better.
