Midway through the first half, we were down 19 points and nothing positive to show for our efforts. We could have turned on each other. We could have blamed each other. Instead, we started doing the little things right and clawed our way back into the game. I am very proud of the way that you guys played. The results were there for everyone to see, and we learned more about what we can do on the field.
Dawson and Max finished the scoring in the first half to bring us back within striking distance. Archbishop Spalding answered at the start of the second half, but we rallied and responded as well. Owen and Boris scored brilliant tries to put us up 31-26. Unfortunately, penalties put us back against it and with no time left Spalding was able to touch down and bring the score to 31-31.
I think we learned more in this game, than we have in any other. The character and discipline was there for everyone to see, and we have much to be proud of. We had many new and brand new players on the field. Freshman Brennan Wicks arrived at just the right moment to fill out our team. If we would have had 1-2 more backs -- there is no question we would have broken this game wide open.
I will look forward to seeing you all at practice on Tuesday. Remember, it is at Parklawn. This is the rugby festival weekend, and we need every single player there to fill out the side.
