“I sat in Sydney unemployed for three years straight. The two things that saved me were Rugby and my dog.”
Because Rugby Maryland didn't have the right numbers to go and compete at the Northeast RCT, the decision was made to join with Rugby Virginia and fill out their team going to the Rock on the Hill. The trip down was notable because of Pierre Liggens missing the bus, but everyone had a great time.
The U17 team had Pierre Liggens, Tyler Lopes, Joseph Vilolio, and Rylan Wareham playing. They were also joined by Moose from DeMatha. The team played North Carolina and Charlotte on Saturday, and South Carolina on Sunday. Tyler Lopes scored a try in the first game, while Rylan Wareham set up an exceptional try in the third allowing the Loosehead Prop to score a try.
The U19 team won their bracket and featured Jabari Agyemann. He was joined on the trip by Gabe from Frederick and Casey from Mount Saint Joseph's. The three of them turned in quite a performance as the team ran through Charlotte, North Carolina and South Carolina on their way to the trophy.
While in North Carolina, everyone had the opportunity to sample Carolina BBQ. We had no idea that they were so into their BBQ, but we quickly learned that it was very important to them. Here is a video featuring the BBQ Trail, and talks about one of the BBQ places we went to while there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=II_fsUDY_5s
